[English]

This article investigates task scheduling strategies in cloud-edge computing layers and proposes an appropriate solution for this problem. The scheduling is evaluated with the dual objectives of minimizing latency and energy consumption. To solve this scheduling problem, an improved gravitational search algorithm is employed as the algorithm proposed in this research. The enhancement implemented in this study on the gravitational search algorithm utilizes fuzzy logic to prevent entrapment in local optima. The improved gravitational search algorithm, alongside the basic gravitational search algorithm, Gray Wolf Optimizer, Sine Cosine Algorithm, Chimp Optimization Algorithm, and Crab Optimization Algorithm, was evaluated and tested in two different environments. Furthermore, Friedman’s statistical test was used for the statistical analysis of the results. The proposed algorithm was first applied to optimize CEC benchmark functions, and the obtained results along with the statistical test indicate the improvement of the proposed algorithm over the basic gravitational search algorithm, as well as its superiority compared to the other algorithms. Subsequently, the improved gravitational search algorithm and the aforementioned other algorithms were used to optimize task scheduling in a cloud-edge environment. The execution results of the algorithms and the statistical analysis demonstrate the enhanced performance of the gravitational search algorithm after the improvement. Moreover, by examining the obtained results, the superior performance of the proposed algorithm compared to the other algorithms can be observed.
